Sunrise Fellow
Doug is one of Suntra’s most senior engineers, bringing over 25 years of product development experience to complex design challenges. He architects and implements real-time systems and software while expertly leading client projects. With dozens of medical devices to his credit, Doug has deep expertise in regulatory expectations—he wrote the quality system for one of Suntra’s clients and contributed significantly to Suntra’s own.
Before joining Suntra (formerly Sunrise Labs), Doug was founder and later president of Flavors Technology, where he developed massively parallel real-time computers and programming tools for automation and simulation. At Suntra, he has built on his strong foundation in hard real-time and artificial intelligence to provide systems-level leadership for advanced medical devices, integrating innovative software, electronics, electro-mechanical, electro-optical, and fluidic subsystems.
Doug thrives on solving systems design challenges, viewing them as unique puzzles that deserve elegant solutions. Outside of work, he shares his passion for technology with the next generation as NH State Instant Challenge Master for Destination Imagination, a nonprofit that helps students learn creativity, teamwork, and problem solving.
Doug holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT.
